Phoenix Rising Academy

At Phoenix Rising Academy, we offer a comprehensive, holistic approach to life coaching, designed to support and guide young people through their emotional and personal growth. The academy provides a balanced mix of individual coaching, peer support, and experiential activities, all aimed at helping kids build resilience, gain confidence, and embrace their full potential.

1. One-on-One Coaching with a Child Mentor
Purpose:
Personalized, one-on-one sessions between a child and their dedicated mentor are the heart of the Phoenix Rising Academy experience. The mentor helps each child navigate their unique challenges and goals by fostering emotional resilience, developing self-awareness, and building confidence.

Program Structure:

Frequency: Weekly 2x or 4x a week depending on the child’s needs.

Duration: Each session lasts 3 hours.

Approach:

Skill Development: Through personalized guidance, the mentor will introduce new coping skills, like mindfulness, breathing techniques, and positive self-talk.

Confidence Building: Coaches will help children practice goal setting and encourage taking small, manageable steps to accomplish them.

Skill Discovery: Each session will focus on helping kids try new skills that promote growth and self-sufficiency—whether it’s social skills, managing anxiety, or learning how to express their emotions.

Personal Growth: By creating a safe, supportive space, mentors will empower kids to explore their strengths and weaknesses, guiding them toward self-acceptance and positive change.

Focus Areas:

Managing Change: For kids going through transitions (new schools, family changes, etc.).

Building Self-Esteem: Encouraging kids to focus on their achievements, no matter how small.

Emotional Regulation: Learning how to manage big feelings like anger, sadness, or fear in healthy ways.

Activities:

Goal-Mapping: Working together to create a plan for tackling challenges or achieving personal milestones.

Resilience Challenges: Light, structured activities that test a child’s ability to bounce back from small setbacks, fostering problem-solving and perseverance.

2. Group Workshops: Peer Collaboration & Social Learning
Purpose:
Monthly group workshops provide a space where kids can connect with peers who are facing similar struggles, sharing insights and offering mutual support. These sessions are designed to promote social-emotional learning and teach kids how to navigate social situations with confidence.

Program Structure:

Frequency: Once a month, with a focus on specific themes. (One session included for free monthly, with membership)

Duration: 1.5 - 2hours of interactive workshops.

Approach:

Interactive Exercises: Using role-playing, group discussions, and small group activities, kids will practice social skills, conflict resolution, and empathy.

Peer Mentoring: Older kids who’ve gained confidence will act as mentors to younger kids, helping to foster a sense of responsibility and leadership.

Shared Experiences: Focusing on a specific theme (e.g., coping with anxiety, making new friends, or overcoming self-doubt), kids will share personal experiences and find support in each other’s stories.

Focus Areas:

Building Friendships: Teaching kids how to connect with others, build trust, and navigate social spaces.

Coping Skills for Anxiety: Working with peers to understand common fears and practicing ways to cope.

Problem-Solving: Helping kids think critically and creatively when facing challenges together.

Activities:

Role-Playing: Acting out different social scenarios to improve communication, empathy, and conflict resolution skills.

Trust-Building Games: Games like trust falls, blindfolded guiding, or team-building puzzles that improve collaboration and emotional connection.

3. Family Support Sessions

Purpose:
Phoenix Rising Academy understands that growth and change often require support from the entire family unit. Our Family Support Sessions offer parents and guardians the opportunity to learn how they can best support their child’s emotional development, while also fostering a stronger family connection.

Program Structure:

Frequency: Available as needed, typically scheduled monthly or at key transition points (e.g., school transitions, after a major family change).

Duration: 1-hour initial consultation with both parents/guardians and child.

Approach:

Parent Coaching: Offering parents guidance on how to create a supportive home environment and implement coaching strategies in everyday life.

Communication Skills: Teaching families how to talk about emotions openly and effectively, helping children feel seen and heard.

Emotional Support: Providing strategies for parents to support their child through anxiety, self-doubt, or transitions, as well as techniques to reinforce positive habits at home.

Focus Areas:

Creating a Supportive Home Environment: Helping parents nurture their child’s emotional well-being.

Reinforcing Coaching Techniques: Ensuring that coaching strategies are effectively applied in daily routines.

Strengthening Family Relationships: Fostering stronger, more positive connections within the family unit.

4. Outdoor & Experiential Learning Activities
Purpose:
Incorporating experiential learning through outdoor activities helps kids practice resilience, problem-solving, and teamwork in real-life scenarios, outside the classroom or coaching environment. These activities are designed to challenge kids physically, mentally, and emotionally, encouraging them to face new experiences with confidence.

Program Structure:

Frequency: Monthly outings or field trips, including nature hikes, outdoor challenges, and fun learning experiences. 1.5 to 2hrs long.

Activities Include:

Rock Climbing: Building resilience and overcoming physical and mental barriers.

Nature Walks & Mindfulness: Encouraging mindfulness practices in natural settings to help kids feel calm and grounded.

Team-Building Games: Activities that require collaboration, such as group puzzles or trust-building exercises.

Creative Expression Activities: Activities like art or journaling during group trips that allow children to express their emotions in a creative way.

Focus Areas:

Confidence through Action: Taking kids out of their comfort zone in a safe environment.

Resilience through Adventure: Teaching kids how to push through difficult or uncomfortable experiences and emerge stronger.

Mindfulness in Nature: Encouraging relaxation and self-awareness through nature-based activities.

5. "Rise Together" Peer Mentorship Program
Purpose:
Older kids, especially those who have gone through significant personal growth, become peer mentors for younger kids. This program not only reinforces their learning but also helps them develop leadership and empathy while supporting others.

Program Structure:

Frequency: Monthly check-ins and mentorship activities.

Duration: 30-minute sessions.

Approach:

Mentorship: Older kids are matched with younger peers to offer support, guidance, and encouragement.

Leadership Development: Older mentors will receive guidance on how to be effective leaders and how to communicate and support their younger peers.

Group Reflection: At the end of each mentorship cycle, mentors and mentees will come together for a group session to reflect on growth, experiences, and goals for the future.

Focus Areas:

Leadership and Responsibility: Older kids develop skills in leadership, empathy, and mentorship.

Social Connection: Building lasting relationships and helping kids learn to support one another.

Personal Reflection: Encouraging older kids to reflect on their own progress and growth.
